Hanging out with Kino

Love Faces

Strike a Pose

Alex (Kino's Manager) & Chely

After attempting to go check out my friends Kino, Lucio & Rafa at “El Pescador” a couple of times and not making it, Queru and I finally dropped by on Friday.

The place was packed and there were no available tables. Fortunately for us, Lucio was sitting at the main table with Karla and a couple of other ladies and we were invited to join them. We arrived in the middle of Kino’s show, while he imitated Juan Gabriel singing “Se me olvido otra vez”. I walked towards the table and he looked at me, acknowledged my presence over the speakers and walked towards me, handing over his microphone. With a packed house, I walked dramatically towards him, grabbed the microphone and took over singing as I looked directly into his eyes, “Probablemente estoy pidiendo demasiado. Se me olvidaba que ya habíamos terminado, que nunca volverás, que nunca me quisiste. Se me olvido otra veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee (claps erupting) eeeeeez” – I handed the microphone back and he completed the song, “Que solo yoooo te quise”.

This was the beginning of a fun weekend for me. Kino was very happy to see us and we spent the rest of the night joking, dancing, singing and laughing.

On Saturday, I had been invited to attend a “three-way” birthday party and Queru and I asked him to join us. While at the party, I texted him reminding him of the invitation and after he completed his Saturday show, he and his manager joined us. Kino – always prepared – connected his sound system and entertained the crowd (for free) that was all there celebrating the birthdays of a 50-year-old, 33-year-old and 16-year old. The crowd was cracking up thoroughly enjoyed his impromptu, birthday performance.

This was the first time I had ever met Alex (his manager - who’s very energetic and fun) and he announced to us, that Kino and him will be traveling to Miami on February 15th to tape for “Sabado Gigante” on February 17th.

We are so excited for Kino and we are certainly looking forward to his first, nationwide performance. After his mini-show, we enjoyed the rest of the birthday celebration; dancing and singing Karaoke until 5:30 a.m. - Needless to say, we are all very tired but, boy did we have fun this weekend!
